Getting started with Sentinel
From account creation to your first intelligent brief, in six concrete steps.
1. Create your account
- Go to app.sentinelbriefing.com and click Create an account.
- Enter your professional email address and a password. A verification email is sent automatically.
- Click the verification link in the email to activate your account.
- Choose your plan: Solo (1 user), Team (5 users) or Firm (15 users). The 14-day free trial requires no credit card.
If your administrator has sent you an invitation, click the link in the invitation email — your account will be directly attached to the existing firm.
2. Create your first watch profile
A watch profile defines a thematic monitoring scope. In the Watch profiles section, choose one of two methods:
- Create with AI (recommended) — describe your need in plain language (e.g. "African geopolitics, Sahel and energy focus"). The AI generates a complete profile with keywords, entities and suggested sources. The Generated profile — Review and adjust window lets you revise all fields. Click Create this profile to confirm.
- + New profile (manual) — enter the name, description, topics, keywords and entities to monitor.
You can create as many profiles as your plan allows. Each profile operates independently with its own sources, cadences and recipients.
3. Configure your sources
Sentinel monitors over 1,100 active sources across 22 countries and 9 thematic verticals (press, think tanks, institutional, parliamentary, legal, social media, blog, research). Most are shared across all platform users.
In the Sources section, you can:
- Link → an existing source to your watch profile.
- Suggest a source — if you don't have admin rights, submit the URL of an RSS feed, website, X/Twitter account, subreddit or newsletter. The administrator receives the suggestion by email.
- Add a private source — check 🔒 Private source for my firm to make it visible only to your firm, not to other platform subscribers.
4. The automatic pipeline
Once your profile is active, Sentinel continuously collects and analyses your sources:
| Cadence | Action | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| :05 (every hour) | RSS and social media collection | Scans all active feeds |
| 6:00 AM (daily) | Daily source collection | Sites without RSS, newsletters |
| :10 (every hour) | Deep search | Tavily + semantic search on your keywords |
| :20 (every hour) | AI analysis | Multi-model pipeline: triage → in-depth analysis → quality scoring |
Analysed articles appear in the Analyses section with a relevance score and structured summary (key facts, signal, watch triggers). Duplicates are automatically deduplicated.
5. Your first brief
Your first intelligence note is generated automatically within 24 hours of the profile being activated. To generate one immediately:
- In the Digests section, click Generate note.
- Select your profile from the Select a profile dropdown.
- Add an optional Angle to guide the synthesis (e.g. "Focus on regulatory implications").
- Click Generate. The Note in progress... indicator appears during the ~30 second generation.
Once ready, you can Copy the note as Markdown, Send by email to configured recipients, or export it as a white-label PDF in your firm's branding (Team, Firm, Enterprise plans).
All notes display at the bottom: AI-generated analysis — verify critical facts.
6. Activation checklist
On your first login, Sentinel displays an activation checklist with three guided steps:
- Create your first monitoring profile — click Go from the banner.
- Receive your first brief — generated automatically within 24 hours of profile activation.
- Invite a colleague — from the Team section (Team, Firm, Enterprise plans).
The banner shows the number of remaining steps and disappears once all are completed. Click Hide this checklist to dismiss it manually.

FAQ
Can I use Sentinel in French or Italian?
Yes. The interface is available in French, English and Italian. Change the language from the menu at the bottom of the page. The language of your briefs and notes is independent of the interface language — configure it per profile in Settings → Deliverable language.
Is there a limit on the number of profiles?
The number of active profiles depends on your plan. If in doubt, check the Pricing page or contact your administrator.
Is my data secure?
Yes. All communications are encrypted over HTTPS. Data is hosted in Europe. The optional BYO extension never sends your credentials to our servers — see the Chrome extension page for details of the security model.
How does the free trial work?
The 14-day trial gives you access to all features of the chosen plan, with no credit card required. After the trial, your account becomes read-only until a paid subscription is activated.
