Watch profiles

A watch profile defines the thematic scope of a monitoring task: associated sources, keywords, tracked entities, delivery cadences and recipients.

Create a profile manually

In the Watch profiles section, click + New profile. Fill in the following fields:

  • Name and Description — clearly identify the monitored scope.
  • URL slug — automatically generated from the name, editable.
  • Topics — the main axes of your monitoring (e.g. Energy, Public health, Tax reform).
  • Keywords — terms searched in collected articles.
  • Entities — organisations, people or places to specifically track.
  • Excluded keywords — filter out noise by excluding irrelevant terms.
  • Deliverable language — the language your briefs and notes are written in for this profile, independent of the interface language. Three options: French, English, Italian.

Click Save to create the profile. It is active immediately.

Create a profile with AI

Click Create with AI and describe your monitoring need in plain language. Example: "Follow European industrial policy, focus on batteries and hydrogen, France/Germany actors."

The AI generates a complete profile. The Generated profile — Review and adjust window lets you revise:

  • Name, URL slug, description
  • Topics, keywords, entities, excluded keywords
  • Suggested sources (with an indication if they are already active in Sentinel)
  • Suggested search queries

Click Create this profile to confirm. Click Regenerate if the result doesn't meet your needs.

Delivery cadences

Each profile has five independent cadences that can be enabled separately or in combination. To enable them, switch to Detailed view (button at the top of the profile table):

CadenceFormatAutomatic sendStatus
Daily briefShort — alerts and today's news, bulletin formatEvery morning✅ Available
Daily noteIn-depth — structured 24-hour synthesisEvery day✅ Available
Weekly summaryRecap — trends and key events of the weekEvery Monday✅ Available
Monthly reportBackground report — monthly overview, structural analysis1st of the month✅ Available
On alertNote triggered by a strong signal detected by the pipelineWhen detected🔄 Evolving

"On alert" mode — evolving. This cadence is currently being reworked. Automatic triggering on strong signals will be revised to improve accuracy and reduce false positives. Current behaviour may differ from the final documentation.

Cadences stack: enable Daily brief + Weekly summary to receive a short bulletin every morning and an in-depth analysis every Monday.

Display modes

The profile list offers two display modes, toggled via the Detailed view button at the top of the table:

  • Simplified view (default) — shows the profile name, a text summary of active cadences (e.g. Brief · Monthly), the subscription column and the number of linked sources. Ideal for a quick overview.
  • Detailed view — shows all columns: classification tags, five individual cadence checkboxes, subscription buttons (the "I receive" column) and the button (combined digest). Ideal for quickly configuring multiple profiles.

Click the button again to Return to simplified view. The preference is not persisted across sessions.

Combined digest (∑)

The combined digest merges signals from multiple profiles into a single cross-profile note sent in one email. This is useful when you follow several complementary thematic scopes.

  1. Switch to Detailed view.
  2. Subscribe to at least 2 profiles (the + button in the subscription column).
  3. On each profile to include in the combined digest, click the button that appears next to the subscription button. The button is highlighted when the profile is included.

The combined digest requires at least 2 included profiles. Below that threshold, the button is greyed out. The combined note is generated according to the delivery cadence configured on each included profile.

Subscribers and recipients

Each profile has two independent mailing lists:

  • Subscribers — team members who automatically receive digests. Manage the list from Edit profile → Subscribers.
  • Recipients — external email addresses (clients, partners) who receive notes by email without access to the Sentinel interface. Add them from Edit profile → Recipients.

If neither subscribers nor recipients are configured, the monitoring runs and notes are generated, but no emails are sent automatically. You can still generate and send manually from the Digests section.

Enable, disable and delete a profile

  • Disable — an inactive profile stops feeding the pipeline and generating new notes, but its history is preserved. Disabling is reversible: re-enable the profile from the Disabled profiles section at the bottom of the page.
  • Delete — an irreversible action that deletes the profile and all its history. Confirmation is required before deletion.

Troubleshooting

Cadence checkboxes do not appear

Enable Detailed view (button at the top of the table). Individual cadences are only visible in detailed view.

The ∑ button (combined digest) is greyed out

You must be subscribed to at least 2 profiles (the + button in the subscription column). The ∑ button is only active for profiles you are subscribed to.

My notes are not in the expected language

Check the Deliverable language setting in Edit profile. This setting is per-profile and is independent of the Sentinel interface language.

My profile is active but no notes are generated automatically

Check that (1) at least one cadence is checked on the profile, (2) you are subscribed or recipients are configured, (3) sources are linked to the profile or general sources are active. A profile without linked sources relies only on general sources.

I can no longer see my disabled profiles

Disabled profiles are shown in a collapsed section at the bottom of the profile list — click Disabled profiles to expand it.
